To introduce ourselves to you, our names are Nigel and Jackie Long. We started New Life Cat Sanctuary in 1998 when we first met and married. At this time we both had rescued cats, Nigel having two and I had ten. It was our love of animals especially cats, that first brought us together.
We had both been doing voluntary work for different animal charities and were becoming very disillusioned with them. Especially when we had to recue some cats from one of them, because they were being neglected. Also much of the money we were raising for the cats, was being used up in administration costs, whereas every penny that we raise for New Life Cat Sanctuary goes to the upkeep of our cats.
We do not draw a wage, nor do we take any expenses from it, as all of our time and love comes free.
A lot of well known charities will not take cats aged eight years and over. Our main object is to help these cats that no one else wants, and for this reason we do not rehome any of the cats in our care.
